On October 22nd, 2024, the HyTea project team gathered on the 12th floor of DIPF for a pivotal meeting with representatives from the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF). The agenda was packed with insightful presentations, discussions, and collaborative planning, all aimed at advancing the project’s goals.

The formal proceedings started with a warm welcome by project leader Daniele Di Mitri and the presentation of engaging trailers of the prototypes developed for the HyTea project. The two prototypes are systems (AI tutors) that can be used to train presentation skills.

After that, Jan Schneider took the stage to show the starting point of the HyTea project: the Presentation Trainer. His presentation offered valuable insights into the project’s training components, emphasising innovative approaches and research gaps.

The doctoral candidates Nina Mouhamad, Stefan Hummel and Melina Rose delivered the first part of their general presentation. This session provided a comprehensive overview of their research progress and findings. Nina discussed the initial data collection from experts and analysis methods. Stefan presented the preliminary results of his systematic feature analysis and their implications, and Melina focused on the theoretical framework of gamification and underpinning her research.

Khaleel Asyraaf presented IMPECT tool, which aims to improve educational content delivery through personalised multimodal feedback for psychomotor learning. Khaleel demonstrated how IMPECT allows the design of multimodal feedback.

The day concluded with a robust discussion on future steps. This session was a collaborative effort to outline the next phases of the project, ensuring that all stakeholders are aligned and prepared for the upcoming challenges and opportunities.

Special thanks to all the dedicated team members who made this event possible: Daniele, the Principal Investigator and Project Lead; Jan, the expert on researching presentation training software; Stefan, the PhD candidate focusing on improving user acceptance via teachers; Nina, the PhD candidate focusing on software for message composition skills training; Ali, Hafiz, Hunain, and Mohamad, the Hiwi and Master student supporting the software development; Faaz, the ex-Hiwi supporting the software development; Roland, the lead from the CGL side; Melina, the PhD candidate focusing on Game Design for Educational Games; Jeldrik, the B.A. student and programmer; and Daniel and Khaleel, the PhD candidates contributing to the project.

Special thanks also go to Mr Manuel Friedrich from the DLR/BMBF, who attended the meeting and gave the project members valuable feedback and insights.
